andy warhol’s “25 Cats Named Sam and One Blue Pussy” was a book comprised of 18 offset lithographs. in december of 1954, 150-190 copies were given to friends and clients. each of these were hand-colored at warhol’s “coloring parties,” which was a precursor to the collaborative approach that characterized much of his career.
